Newbie from Newbury..... S8 with a few questions !!!!!

Hello all, Merry xmas.

Just logged onto the site, been viewing it for a few weeks after a recommendation from a fellow RS owner.... what a great site, good banter, and plenty of knowledge too !!!! ( which i hope you can impart on me )

I have just bought a fantastic 2002 S8, what car awsome car. Bought from an audi enthusiast who upgraded to a V10 S8. My new baby is lovely and in mint condition in and out and completly standard too, it has been cherished by the previous owner, so i was lucky to find one in this condition.

I have found a few issues which i hope you guys can shed some light on for me please ??????,

1. i have found that there is water getting into the boot somewhere, i checked the spare wheel etc when i looked at the car prior to buying and dry as a bone, i have been driving her about for about a week in the awful weather we have been having, i noticed the boot carpet was damp, pulled it up and there was water in the spare wheel space,quite alot!!!!. i took the carpet out, dried it and dried and checked the spare wheel well. I cannot see any signs of where the water is getting in??, about halfway down the boot floor on each side are a hole( for the carpet trim screw ), i put my little finger in ( oohhhh errrrrr mrs ) and they were full of water. Again dried them out.
The car then stood for a day or 2 with the rain pelting down, checked again and all dry in the boot, wheel well and small holes halfway along the boot. I have then driven about 200 miles in the rain and again the boot is wet, i have no idea where the water is getting in, possibly a blocked water tract/drain??.

2. The climatronic climate control is pumping out really hot air from drivers and passengers side/window vents no matter what temp the climate is set at ( except min ), the centre consol vents are fine and put out the temp i would expect, i normally have a car about 19 degrees and the centre consoll feels about right but the window/ side vents are blowing very very hot air from them??. it is the same with climate or econ modes set??.

Last problem i promise !!!!!!!

3. The headlight washers do not work, i think this is a common problem. i can hear the high pressure pump/water noise when i pull the wash wipe with headlights on but the headlight washers do not pop up. I have managed to gently pull them up by hand and soaked with WD40 in case they were just a bit stiff but still nothing, there is no water dripping either when i try them so i think all hoses are connected....

Apologies to log on and ask for help so soon, but looking at posts i reckon somebody will have the answers ( hopefully ).

welcome to the madhouse!

i'm no expert, far from it, but just a couple of suggestions:

1. have you checked your rear light gaskets? i had an audi 90 with water getting in the boot and that was the culprit

2. sounds like a air-con regas is required, at the least they would tell you if you have sufficient gas in there for the system to be operating correctly.

3. could be a burnt out pump motor on your resevoir bottle, my mate has an s8 with the same problem.

could be worth a look!
