RS6 C7 facelift model

Post by Herbie1213 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:37 pm

Hi all, first post on this forum.

Looking to replace my current A6 BE with a facelift RS6 towards the end of this year.

I’m sure this question has been asked already. But I would really appreciate any buying advice you wish to share with me.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'd say wait about 9 months and then start your search.

I wasn't being facetious or anything. The usual tips on spec and what to avoid etc etc won't take long to sort out, but if you start looking now you'll inevitably see 'the one' and it'll be sold before you get the chance to buy it, or your circumstances will change, or you'll get a job abroad... the end of the year is faaar away.

As for the car you should look out for - top of my list are/were black optics, performance pack with sports exhaust (unless you're planning going aftermarket anyway)... same goes for wheels, the 21s are usually made of chocolate so unless you're really set on them find one with 20s and upgrade yourself. Park plus or advanced or whatever when it parks the car for you is pointless, but adaptive cruise was/is one of my favourite options but not many C7s seem to have been specced with it. Power boot, keyless entry/go, heads up and the other 'comfort' options are personal preference but I'd say just go for the highest spec possible, the one with the most boxes ticked... but don't get a Nardo one.

MartayMcFly offers good advice.

No harm in looking at cars now, but if you need to wait until the end of the year to actually buy then look with a different set of eyes - the set that's all about understanding specs and prices - not the set that actually wants to buy a car. If you are familiar with RS6 options already then probably best not to spend much time looking now, and prices will be cheaper come the end of they year. If you are less familiar with RS6 options then it's a good thing to start looking early to understand what low, more common and high spec'd cars look like (and cost), what all the options are and whether owners actually value them - and then build a list of your must have and nice to have options. When you are ready to buy, that list will help you skip past cars that are not for you. Higher spec cars are often more desirable and sell-able - even if some of the options turn out not to be that useful in the real world (this is a very common thing). I suggest you also consider if you are going to run the car as stock or mod it. If you will (or might) mod it then perhaps also spend this time understanding typical mods (maps, exhausts etc) and build those costs into your budget.
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

Make sure your house security is good. And you have a garage. Then study the brochures to see what equipment is standard and what is optional and what comes with the various packages.

To add to Mikes comment. Study the brochure and decide what are your "must haves" and what are your "nice to haves" and start to short list them - personally, I also look at number of owners, colour (obviously) and description of advert, spelling etc and photos - not to make any value judgements, but an RS6 advertised for sale with a load of terraced houses in Salford might put me off. Happy hunting. Mine might be up for sale at end of year - debating bailing ahead of perhaps a new RS6 having had a long chat with my stealer earlier this week

And look at the options that can't be changed or retrofitted like air suspension or DRC.

Many thanks for all of your replies and advice on specs. Buying used I’ll have to make some compromises on spec etc.
I’m quite patient when it comes to buying a car and gather as much information as I can. Although I said I would be looking to purchase at the end of the year I actually retire in July and will have to return my A6, so it will more than likely be within a month of my retirement.
Once again many thanks and I look forward to sharing some photos of my next car.

Sorry to revive a old thread.

I’ve used the search function to try and find a original factory spec list for a C7 RS6.
I read that this has been done to death on here but I can’t find anything other than old posts about been done to death !
I’ve also google it along with a buying guide but only found info regarding the facelift model differences.

So can I anybody please post me a link to a original thread or send me a factory brochure in pdf of the none pe models spec and options.

Cheers in advance.

Here you go, courtesy of Lig. If you have the vin# you can call Audi Spec Check they will give you the Optional paid for extra's too. 0333 003 2797.

I do have the brochure somewhere and will post this when I find it.

And here is the standard Spec...

RS 6 Avant Standard Spec.
Key features that come as standard
Wheels
► 20”x9.5J‘7-twin-spoke’designalloy wheels with 275/35 R20 tyres and locking wheel bolts
► TyreMobilitySystem
Performance
and suspension
► Audi Drive Select – changes your car’s handling and response at the touch of a button to suit the way you want to drive. Enables the driver to alter the throttle response, the shift point of the automatic transmission, RS Adaptive air suspension, exhaust ap control and the power steering feel between the three pre-set modes: Comfort, Dynamic, Auto or Individual mode
► Electromechanical power steering
► quattro permanent all-wheel drive with Sport di erential – the electronically regulated Sport di erential distributes variable amounts of driving force to
each rear wheel, stabilising the vehicle’s response to load change, improving stability and agility especially when cornering. It ensures better direct steering characteristics and thanks to less steering e ort, more agile handling
► RS-speci c Adaptive air suspension – electronically controlled air suspension with variable adaptive damping system
on all four wheels, with RS-speci c tuning. This automatically controls the vehicle level and damping, with four modes: Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Lift, which can all be selected via the MMI system
► RS high-performance braking system with brake calipers painted in High-gloss black with RS logo
► Audi cylinder-on-demand technology
Lighting
► Audi Matrix LED headlights – a direct evolution of Audi’s LED headlights,
Audi Matrix technology provides maximum and precise illumination at all times
whilst reducing the risk of dazzling other road users. The vehicle uses information obtained from multiple sources including the interior mirror camera and navigation system to identify the appropriate lighting required. Using GPS data, the vehicle will use high beam, but will automatically switch to dipped lighting when entering built-up areas; whilst high beam is in use, and oncoming tra c is detected, the Matrix beam dips or fully extinguishes individual lighting diodes.
► Matrix beam is capable of establishing
and tracking multiple road users and illuminating the appropriate corridors
of lights either side of them to maintain maximum visibility of the road and surrounding environment without causing disruption to other drivers. Matrix beam technology includes dynamic front and rear indicators which sweep from inside to out. This helps to clearly identify not only that the vehicle is turning, but in which direction
