Hi guy and girls, I'm a newbie to not only the Audi RS6 but also to forums in general
Anyway, I've just bought a 2008 rs6, currently running 700 bhp.
Love the car, monstrously fast, very refined inside, but I have one small niggle, and I'm not being a chav here, but it doesn't give any nice audible exhaust note from inside the car.
I've bought a 5ltr V10 twin turbo, I wanna hear it when I'm driving, it's all part of the experience.
I've done a little research and spoke to some helpful people, but I was wondering if anyone has used exhaust systems for sale (the Mrs will literally kill me if I bought a new one)
Maybe from a car that's been front ended or something?
Any help or advice gratefully recieved.
Cheers.
Help! Lol
Re: Help! Lol
Hi TinTin - There's a few "anti-social" but cheap mods (<£250) for the exhaust - Cut either the back boxes off (silly loud) or both resonators (louder in car, a bit droney, not as anti-social).
There's not many being broken either, they seem to be quite a "rare" car for breakers to get their hands on but depending on price you can get new Cat-Back exhaust for around £700-£1000 on eBay but the quality will be lower than a £1500-£1800 one which seems to be the average price for custom/aftermarket like Milltek, H&S, JCWF or Demand Engineering etc. Mine is one of the cheaper aftermarket ones (£750) from KWE Automotive in Germany and while the quality is lower (thinner metal, more hassle to fit perfectly etc) the noise is great

Re: Help! Lol
As Ian said that pretty much covers it.
I can vouch for having both my center cats removed and my back boxes (on my old RS6 v10) the new one has a milltek which although looks much nicer i preferred my boxes/cat removal as it gave it a lovely v10 growl/rasp.
Only preference on the milltek is cold start and overall idle is much nicer/quieter but no where near as nice on full chat.
I later removed both the pre-cats and the center boxes basically having straight pipe and that made not much difference in sound (cold start was deafening) and i got a horrid drone at 2-2.5k.
Best advice for cheap exhaust noise is remove the back boxes! but don't expect to hear it much more in the car its still very quiet!

Sorry if I'm sounding dumb, does the normal factory exhaust have resonators? And can they be removed?
Thanks for the response guys

Re: Help! Lol
There is two tiny resonators that act as a crossover to balance the exhaust note, personally removing these will make Zero difference.TinTin RS6 wrote:Sorry, I just re read your post Ian.

Your best bet is removing the back boxes if you want more noise for not so much money. it was the first thing i did on my old RS
