New RS4 B7 owner saying hi.

Post by Maxoliver » Fri Aug 21, 2015 7:49 am

Hi guys, happy to say finally got my dream car at long last! I previously owned a MK4 R32

R32
which I loved but doesn't compare to the V8 monster really!
I've got a silver RS4 B7 saloon with flat botom steering wheel buckets and 63k on the clock, with eventually a few plans when the funds repair!
Looking for a custom de-cat for the standard system at the moment so if anyone can shed some light on where to get one that would be awesome! Or a second hand Miltek system Which I know is a bit of a long shot but worth a go :)

Silver loon for the win!

Nice - no baguettes in sight - good move.

Black optics look good too. Enjoy.

Oh, and FON.

*Opinion alert*

With regards to the exhaust what are you after? For me get the pre-cats gutted or replace for a pipe without pre-cats and get the central resonator chopped out and a straight pipe welded in. Nice noise on a budget.

The nicest one I've heard in my limited experience is the JC Fabweld that Neil who commented above has.

There is next to zero bhp to be gained from the exhaust with a couple of bhp from a 2.75" diameter full system from JHM for example. With import changes this is very expensive though.

Again Neil did a massive amount of research on exhausts before choosing the JC and money no object it's the one I'd get :)

Just as an example of an alternative to using existing down pipes and gutting them :)

Welcome.

And as above but I'd say that getting the pre cats is more about gaining power than noise (although it does both). Gutting the pre cats gives the biggest power gain from the exhaust, more so than the less restrictive main cats or from any other aftermarket system.

I made the same move, r32 to rs4 and have never looked back! I've done gutted pre cats and resonator removed, exhaust is just perfect now

Yes, pre cat delete is the rs4 power mod, got carried away typing lol.

I too had a Mk4 before. Miss her but the RS is another planet! Mine was just the 1.8t though.

Cheers guys, got some good options to go for there, only had the RS4 for under two weeks and although it's mental and is indeed on another level! I had a stage 2 set up on the R32. And feel the RS4 is a bit refined in sound and needs to be unleashed a bit. The jc weld fab would be my first choice I think sound mental, maybe next year as RS4 has hurt my bank :)

So pre-cat delete and resonaters removed should do the job. Will keep an eye out for a second hand system as well.

What Mark said (esp_mm-270) - save the money and get the JC system - you will NOT regret it. Do the pre-cat delta in the interim maybe...

Oh, and get some spacers!

I have 8mm all round only because I have SS+ and GY Assym F1's - any more and I;d be rubbing.

No SS+? Easily 10/12mm all round...

Oh, and a 'Trups' LED interior and exterior make-over too? A sound and relatively cheap mod.

Ok cool 10mm should be enough I think. I've got some work to do!

Yeah I've seen the LED's on the back of the RS4s which look really good but haven't seen them inside.

Also bidding on a Miltek with resonated sections non valved I think? So fingers crossed I can grab that for a good price, gutt pre-cats, will be a good start.
