Hello - new owner of a B8 S4 checking in...

Post by Fliptop » Mon Feb 09, 2015 5:49 pm

Hi everyone :bigwave:

I've just put a deposit down on a 2012 S4 Avant with a very tasty spec and now can't wait to get it in about a week or so.

It's Misano red with electric red & black super sports seats, Quattro sport diff, ADS & active steering/dampers, tech pack "high", powered tailgate and a shed load of other goodies.

This is quite a departure for me as I have only ever owned Saabs for the last 30 years... This will be replacing my 300bhp 9-3 2.8T Hirsch that I've had for 5 years and almost 100K miles, and will sit alongside the rest of the fleet: a 2001 9-5 Aero with c. 400bhp and very little left that's stock, a 1989 "Classic" 900 T16S 2-door which is a track hack my Dad and I share, and a pair of early 70s 96V4s that I'm in the process of restoring for my daughters. Yes, you could say I've got the Saab thing bad, so be gentle with me :bigblink:

Anyway, looking forward to learning more about the Audi. Bit late to ask now I've bought it, but anything I should look out for?

2001 9-5 Aero "Farting Buffalo 3" - 367+bhp, 600Nm
1989 900 T16S track hack
1975 96V4 Silver Jubilee 19K from new meccano set
1972 96V4 - 42K from new

Pics of the T16S 2dr! :beerchug:

My auntie had a pair of 900 Turbos in a row in the late 80s and I loved the turbo whoosh when I was a wee kid in short trousers! Timeless cars, very few around nowdays!

Superb! Quite an early T16S? Cadwell, Goodwood, Mallory - looks like you've got some decent track miles in!

It's an 89, so in the middle of the production period really. Yes it's done a few track miles, not nearly enough though (time, budget etc...).

Hasn't been out for a couple of years and we've been trying to find a buyer, but those people who have shown an interest expect to get it for buttons. It's not going to lose any money sitting in the barn, so it may as well stay until either a sensible buyer arrives or we find more time to use it!

Cheers, aye, 328 on the tin but I gather they often produce a bit more than that.

Loving the car so far (mostly) though the steering can be a bit too heavy for me at the mo...have asked a few questions about that in the B8 S4 section of the forum.

Stage 1 will come in roughly 11 months' time when the Audi warranty runs out!
