Sheesh...never seen so many welcome messages for one person!

We're a fickle bunch us blokes...bet there wouldn't have been as many welcome messages for 'George' if he joined.

Poor girl, now we've made it sound like we're a nice friendly bunch of people....she's gonna get the wrong impression!

PS. I might re-register as 'Betty'...I might get more passenger rides.

Thanks for the nice welcome, I was half expecting, to be told its a boys only play area and to shewww off :( 8)

Scotty - I dont have a car so to speak I have a company one that gets changed quite often, I've had some really nice ones of late like the Sline A3 and A4 Cabriolet 8)

Johnerroberts - Thanks for the offer of help, I will certainly need it, I really want to shape up and know whats what with these cars and engines, the main thing though is the public knowing more about the future vehicles than the dealers, you feel very stupid when a customer comes in and tells you about future cars etc

Riz - I have driven the 3.2 quite a few times and its lovely, very responsive, have you got the DSG in it?

Bjack - Chelmsford You'll have to pop in for a coffee and say hello :D

DaveP - Ohhhh dont worry I can give as good as I get, you wont frighten me off :D

I am totally bike mad, my gsxr is my first bike as well, like throwing myself in at the deep end! :bash:

I'll definatly be doing track days next year, so I'll post some of them up, I really want to do the Germay
one where the cars go on too - Top Gear was there a few weeks ago and looked ace! :D

What do you ride?

That'll be the The 'Ring...we had an rs246 trip there about 2 months back...awesome place, although I wouldn't recommend it as a place to do your first 'track' outing on your bike - you'd be much better off doing at least a few dedicated bike track days in the uk first. (the mixture of cars and bikes on the same track doesn't really mix too well)

Done quite a few bike track days, mostly at Oulton Park....the full curcuit there is awesome on a bike, nice and technical.

Yep, DaveP is correct - the Ring.
Done it a couple of times on a bike and it is awesome, if a little scary. It is the only place I have ever experienced being overtaken by cars !!!

What do I ride ?
Ehem, well, I have a bit of a collection, but the current favourites for the road are a couple of Ducatis :smile_smoking:

If you haven't done bike track days before I'd highly recommend doing a track school first. Less nutters and good tuition.
Try either Cali superbikes or Euro superbikes. Imo Cali SBS are best for the first 2 levels, then once you know your stuff Euro SBS is much more laid back and more like a bunch of mates out for a blast.

You best prepare to be inundated with requests to buy cars through the family discout scheme

Collection - Ducatis - you smug watsit :notworthy:

I am doing some lessions next year and female track days too, just to get a bit of skill without
being buzzed in the bends by the guys!

I am going to do some of the police aware days, to help learn the road more etc, will help in the
car too as I dont drive like Miss Daisy lets just say :boots:

JR - Can you give me rates for the banner ads? Just out of interest, or must they only be car related to run here?

Cheers

police aware days - you mean bikesafe ?
Well worth the time if you ask me.
I'm an advanced motorcyclist and an observer for our local IAM group :sekret:
I went on the bikesafe course the met police run from Hendon earlier this year just to see what it was all about. It is probably best to think of it as a first step on the road to getting more advanced tuition. A taster.
I would highly recommend anyone with a bike joins their local group of IAM. It is not al boring slow stuff. Most of the people own soprts bikes, and beleive me we do not ride slow.
It is all about being aware of the hazards, which genberally allows you to ride faster with the same level of safety :bigblink:

If you can't be bothered with that then do a search for 'rapid training'. This is a group of ex copper class 1 instructors who do training too.

Smug watsit - who moi ?

Being buzzed in the bends is what I meant about track schools rather than track days. They are more organised and you are less likely to get other taking your line into a bend leaving you nowhere to go.

Anyway, beter get back to talking about cars, eh :kissmyrings:

If you want any advice, tips, contacts whatever on what I've mentioned feel free to pm me.

Hi Nicola and welcome,
On the proviso that you are not Nicola my ex wife who just got a new job at a car dearler
I would suggest starting off at somewhere like Castle Coombe or Goodwood, both east tracks to learn.
I am sure some of us will be going to one or the other early in the new year.
