Looking to buy my forst Audi

Post by jib » Wed Oct 15, 2003 12:57 pm

Hi all

Im looking to buy an Audi S4 Avant price between 15-19k, was there a model update at some point as some web sites show car spec BHP at 254/265 @ 5800. What should I be looking at when buying an S4 etc. Audi is new to me and I learning more about them as I go, The wife and I once owned a A2 when they first came out, we had so many problems with it we sold it so im apprehensive to say the least but still think the S4 will be a fantastic car.

thanks

Jib

I've had a 99 S4 (non Avant) for two months. Just superb. The only problem I've had was a faulty Airflow meter (common problem) which restricted performance somewhat. Fixed and flying.

It's the only car I've driven that can be used for extreme fun and taking the extended family for a day out (It's not often my wifes grandma says "this is nice"!!!).

Look at the S4 forums for more info. Don't be put off by some of the horror stories but do take heed. Get the car fully checked out before buying. The main men here have far better knowledge than me. They'll see you right!

Welcome aboard the good ship RS246

S4 standard is 265bhp / 295lb/ft. It was only 250bhp in the States.
Read the S4 forum for dos and don'ts

Good luck in the search

Welcome aboard!

Good car to buy, I had mine for about 2 years, brilliant car with no problems

The model change was really only cosmetic IMHO, with different door handles, relocated AC controls, different door mirrors

Still the same car underneath

Good luck with your search
Can't beat a bit of boost!
