Remotely triggering hazard lights?

I've just got a DIY tracker and will be wiring it up so that you can remotely cut-off the fuel pump, so the question is how do I trigger the hazard lights at the same time?

The fuel pump will be switched with a standard 5pin relay that switches between 2 circuits, the 2nd circuit could be used to trigger the hazards if I knew how.

Is it just a case of finding the hazard relay and connecting to that?

Hazard relay?
If its what I think then there's no such thing anymore.
Nowadays all those kind of things are done via a separate integrated circuit controller unit to do the actual flashing.

Oh - is it an fsi car? If so not sure how the high pressure pumps will react if the low pressure feed is cut.

If it were me I'd be looking at the key switch feeds. If you were to put the relay there then the car would (i think) react as if the key switch had be turned off so shut down everything gracefully.

Hmmm thanks adsgreen, that gives me some things to think about. I have tested the hazard light switch to see how it triggers the lights and was hoping it would be a straight fwd earth switch but there are 8 pins and struggled to make any sense of them as if you turn the hazards on then disconnect the switch the lights continue to flash.

As regards the fuel pump cut-off (its my RS4) I'll have a think about that. If the car was to run out of petrol it would have the same effect wouldn't it? So there must be some design feature to stop the FSI pumps from being damaged or causing problems if starved of fuel. There is a pump control unit on top of the tank access hatch with 2 separate runs of wires running down the outside of the tank, so was thinking these would probably feed the FSI pumps. Will do some more research on this.
