i have a query, my RS6 avant is lowered on coil overs, and when i 1st got the car the lights pretty much shined down onto the road rather out giving me any distance. SHortly after this the MOT was due, so obvioulsy the lights were well out. so i simply used the manual adjustment to get me out of a pickle!

Im thinking now should i be taking it to an audi garage to get the lights setup both with manual and auto lamp adjustment.. As ive simply wound the lamp mounts upwards surely the light is still trying to achieve its pre-lowered settings??

so again audi garage/or can a slick Vag Com owner sort this?

the more normal method is to adjust the bracket for the 2 level sensors on the axles to counteract your lowering.

The car doesn't know the absolute level. Just the difference between front and rear.

As long as you stay within the acceptable range of the senders then you are fine. If not the you need to mechanically adjust as outlined above.

I don't think you need to do it. I have had my car slammed and it didn't affect the headlight leveling system. Your problem is coming from somewhere else. Probably need to reset the zero position with the Vagcom and adjust the aim manually.

When you start the engine with the lights on, do they cycle through the max / min position? If you push down on a wing, does the aim stay the true?

Test all that first before messing aroudn with brackets.

I take it you mean flick the light switch around to normal on position before turning on the ignition?
Is the Car meant to cycle to max n min positions?

Where an I best getting the headlight positions adjusted? Audi garage?

Yes, if you start the engine with the lights on, you will see the level cycle from max to min.

Audi or VAG garage. Or somewhere with a Vagcom who knows what they are doing.

ill try my lights later, ill have a hunt about for other garages in south lake district area

alright mate, you mentioned about the headlight cycle, noticed it last night, yep it does that but one n/s light beam is much lower (potingin at road than the other)

think im gonna have to bit the bullet and visit audi garage

I had that after I went over a huge bump in the road. Something went out of whack. The headlights on these are a bit fragile. Check out the RS6 forum for the topics on headlights where we talk about it.
