Sorry if it's a silly question, but I haven't a clue!
It's an RNS-E unit in a B7 RS4, with a TV tuner that I also never use and would be happy enough to get rid of too.
All advice much appreciated!
Nope, everything else will carry on working as normal.stuwd wrote:If I simply unplug it, will the RNS-E throw a wobbler and refuse to function?
The iPod adapter plugs in where the CD changer goes - so your RNS-E still thinks there's a CD changer plugged in, which makes your experience not relevant to the question that stuwd is asking.sonny wrote:Iv had my CD changer unplugged now since I have owned my car, I had an ipod adaptor fitted when I purchased the car.
If you have an RNS-E then the Aux In is completely separate to the CD changer/iPod connection.stuwd wrote:I'm planning on getting an aux in installed
Good stuff - that was the cable I was looking at last night and was fairly sure it was the one.PetrolDave wrote: and then you can buy a cable from Kufatec http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info ... RNS-E.html
They're very handy things - even handier if they're out of sight. I don't like memory cards and expensive proprietary systems like iTunes/iPods and so on that lock you in. A 3.5mm aux in is universal - you can plug in the next new sound technology as soon as it comes along.aka_dk wrote:only just found out my R8 has an 3.5mm Aux In built in from the factory
It was introduced onto the R8, TT and A3 in about November 2009 - but with zero publicity.aka_dk wrote:only just found out my R8 has an 3.5mm Aux In built in from the factory
You've been had - it became part of the standard spec of all Audis fitted with either RNS-E or Symphony II+ in late 2009.aka_dk wrote:not got it in my TTRS ?
