VIM hack?

Post by DazN » Tue Jun 14, 2011 3:37 pm

Hi,

I've been searching high and low on the Internet for this and can't find a proper answer.

I'm going to have a go at fitting my Alpine KCE-425i unit and Kufatec IMA Plus (when it all arrives), I reckon I can get it all fitted and wired up but I'm struggling to find an answer to enable TV / Video in Motion?

A lot of USA stuff talks about downgrading the firmware first, then changing the value of "5" to "250" for the speed at which video switches off.

Also found some other stuff about accessing some read only entries with VCDS and changing that setting but that's not for RNS-E?

I want the easiest way to enable this and spending £200 on a unit from Kufatec to do it for me is not an option!!

Thanks

The VIM hack that is available needs RNS_E EU SW 080, so you get hold of 080 (not easy) to create SW with the VIM lock removed, install that so you can change the speed value from 1 to 250, and then put the original SW back again - but in stages not in one go, or the navigation voice prompt will probably end up coming out of the rear speakers.
