RNS-E with ipod and tv tuner?

Post by stoddie » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:33 pm

i currently have an RNS-E with the kufatec, alpine kce and video in motion so i can play my ipod.

i am thinking of installing a tv tuner. I have heard this is possible and somewhere does a switching unit that can switch between the two inputs. is this correct? has anyone done this and if so can anyone tell me what they bought to do the install.

many thanks in advance :D

Did you find a suitable switching unit to allow a digital tv tuner and kce-425 alpine iPod connection. I would like to have both (plus DVD player and retain cd changer). The only option I can see at the moment is to have the oem digital tv tuner and DVD player and dension 300 iPod integration. I'd be interested in any other solutions.

The IMA is the switching unit. The problem is the RNSE can only switch 3 ways. CD/TV/MP3 so you can use the TV function for 1 device, but can't switch between 2 devices on that connection

For TV in the car I just use TVCATCHUP.com on my phone

If the RNSE could show anything the iPhone has on the screen that would be amazing! But I think iPhones cut video out for anything not media file based.

The IMA Plus has two inputs, so you can have a KCE-425 and a TV tuner.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but the two inputs, one is for a TV/Alpine etc and the other is for reverse camera and activates when in reverse.

I've just fitted a switch box I bought from eBay in the DVD slot in my glove box. It's not finished yet but when it is I will get some pics up. Who unlocked the video in motion for you as I need mine doing?

This is the switch I bought:

Thats good for switching the source, but it doesn't pass the IR signals to control the device.

I built a box a long time ago when I have my RS6 to switch between analogue TV tuner and a 3rd party digital TV tuner. It switched the RGBS and CAN signals from a switch mounted near the hand brake. I found this magic box the other day, this would allow switching between a standard TV tuner and the IMA with some slight modification.
