pothole caused electric failure?

Post by saul » Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:46 am

Any ideas welcome...

I drove over a pothole today which wasn't the worst but still enough to make a bang, when i went down the pothole my 2003 C5 RS6 cut out as though the battery had been diconnected.

It has no life going to any part of it like hazards, interior light or electric seats and all the dials are frozen at the readings from when I was driving and it cut out. Except for the battery volts dial which reads zero.

The battery leads were on tight and the battery is in good condition, but there is no power going to the fuse box in the dash or the ecu under the bonnet.

I disconnected the battery for around 3 hours but this made no difference.

Any suggestions please?

Wonder if there's an inertia switch in the battery leads that has tripped?
