Disc stuck in SatNav

I received a new 2010 DVD nav disc yesterday but for some reason the old disc refuses to come out!
I've got an RNS-E headunit and when I press the eject button with the screen in the up pos, not a lot happens. It just let's out a little wheeze and goes back to using the current disc.
The Nav still works but the current disc refuses to leave the slot. Has anyone come across this before?
I'm dreading an Audi stealer charge in order to put this right...

Is this the first time you've tried to take the disc out?

The cars are shipped with eject disabled (to stop the discs being nicked in transit) and many dealers fail to change the setting pre-delivery. It's a simple VAG-COM job...

If it's making noises like it wants to eject but doesn't I don't think it's the software lock. Possibly the disk mechanism is goosed.

But it would help to check it out with VCDS first for the software lock and then for any faults on the Nav unit ie "Defective medium" etc.
