I have an RS6 with the original RNS-D installed. It's been working fine, although I've had a minor issue that was resolved but has returned but that's another story.
My problem started on Thursday, I got in the car find that I needed to enter my code. It didn't accept it on the first attempt, so I turned everything off and took the keeps out. Started the car back up again and again needed to enter the code, this time it worked fine. Same think happened yesterday, however last night it wouldn't accept the code at all.
Took the car down to Audi this morning and explained my problem, they hooked up there diaganostic's computer and confirmed that my code I correct and that the RNS-D is expecting it. So they are unsure of the problem and want to do further diagnostics. They did mention that it could be a problem with the Parrot bluetooth kit that's installed and want to remove it when they perform further diagnostics.
Security Code not working
RE: Security Code not working
Has anyone else had a problem like this before?

No, sorry, mine has only asked for the code when i removed it and thus removed the power.
RE: Security Code not working
It'll cost you less to buy another RNS-D than to let audi diagnose your problem (especially since their solution will be 'get a new RNS-D').
I don't believe the Parrot thing for a second. They just haven't got a clue. Sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe faulty flash RAM or something.

They're clutching at straws - that's BS!Maximo wrote:They did mention that it could be a problem with the Parrot bluetooth kit that's installed and want to remove it when they perform further diagnostics.
Try checking that both the power connections to the RNS-D are OK, if they're not both solid that can make it ask for the code and if one fails (SAFE?) it won't accept the code even when you enter it.
RE: Re: Security Code not working
I removed the Parrot kit from the car yesterday and removed the head unit to make sure that all of the connectors were seated tight. Still not working as it should. When I enter the correct code I get this message on screen "Safe-Pin Nicht Angleschlossen!" which translated means, Safe Pin Not Attached. Any further ideas anyone?

RE: Re: Security Code not working
Problem resolved, well worked around for the moment. Thanks to PetrolDave I did a little more searching around the Internet. Turns out that there should be a permanent 12Volts going to one terminal connection named safe (second one in at the top, from the left). I checked the voltage of both the main power and the safe feed. The voltage was reading less then 1 volt going into the safe connection. I've therefore looped the main 12 volt feed into the safe feed. All working fine now
.
So next I need to find out where the feed that's connected to the safe terminal comes from so that I can find out why it's dropped the voltage and resolve that problem. At least for now I have tunes again. Further advice is more then welcome.
