Signal not good.

Post by BagginS4 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:27 pm

Hi,

I recently fitted a sony headunit into my B5, now when I tune into a radio station the signal is really poor with lots of interference or cannot find the station altogether.

I know the aerial is built into the rear window, has anyone had this issue how did they get around it?

Cheers
Bill

You need to supply power to the antenna with a phantom power supply for the antenna.

Like the ones on this page lower down

thanks for that, so the blue wire coming off of the phantom power supply then connects to what?

+12V switched I would guess. If your radio has an electric antenna feed then that may be the wire to connect to, it should provide +12v when the radio is used.

BagginS4 - what did you fit in the end ? I have the same problem and although its better with one of these adaptors the signal is still very weak..
