Has anyone done it? Seeing as the analogue signal is ending seems a good time to investigate upgrading.Can it be done 'piggy back' style? as in not replacing my whole system (2001 nav plus screen) Just a brief look into the boxes and prices/opinions are all over the place for this alone....anyone with any pointers,or decent fitter who can advise?

AFAIK you can swap the analog only TV tuner to the hybrid (digital/analog) one.
