RNS-D Issues
RNS-D Issues
I have two small problems at the moment. The first one is that I get a fault message every time I turn on the Stereo, "RDS-TMC Tuner connection to RDS-TMC tuner is faulty or could not be establisted". I can clear this by pressing the return button. This does mean however that no DIS information from the Stereo is displayed. There's a Parrot bluetooth kit fitted to the car and I was wondering if that would have any effect or maybe that a cable needs reseating. Where abouts is the TMC located?
My second problem is that the TV tuner has stopped work and VAG-COM doesn't see it. Not that it's going to work for much longer as it is, but I was going to use the aux inputs and feed a couple of screens in the rear. Is it a case of the TV Tuner box in the boot gone pop?

TMC/CAN gateway is behind the driver's side knee bolster. If factory fitted it will be on a bracket below the steering column.
Have you checked the TV connector at the back of the head unit?

My problems seemed to have been sorted now. But not by changing the TMC or checking the cables. I puchased the SatNav CD for 2009/2010, after installing the CD and the RNS doing it's update everything now all works as it should.

How old was your original CD? TMC was added in the 2004 CD.Maximo wrote:My problems seemed to have been sorted now. But not by changing the TMC or checking the cables. The original CD was from 2003, which is the same year at the car. That's a little odd, adding a device ready for the future. I take it Audi offered a free upgrade CD?

You're joking!Maximo wrote:I take it Audi offered a free upgrade CD?
I had a 2003 B6 S4 with an RNS-D and the dealer was adamant that TMC didn't and couldn't work - so I took the Sales Manager out to my car (which was using a 2004 CD from Tele-Atlas - and showed him the working TMC!

Greg, Sorry to say that my issue has returned. So the updated wasn't the answer after all. I suspect the issue it to do with the cable connecting to the head unit and the TMC receiver. Every now and then it works fine for a few days and then errors again. Time to replace the cables I feel before looking for a new TMC module.
