What turns on the radio????

Post by gorwanvfr » Fri Jan 01, 2010 10:10 pm

As the title says what turns on the radio (RNS-E). I have a problem at the minute with the radio. Here goes put the key in and start the car everything is fine. Stop the car but leave the key in the ignition and the radio turns off and on so does the Bluetooth module. Someone suggested that the 86s contact on the ignition switch might be faulty. Check it with a multi meter and it's fine so where do I go now?? Any help would be great.

The RNS-E turns on/off in response to messages on the Infotainment CAN bus, so it's nothing at all to do with the ignition switch or the 86s contact.

Hi Dave, Thanks for that it had crossed my about the can bus system but an audi tech told me to check the 86s contact, should have known better  . I did check the wiring around the back of the radio one strange thing I noticed is the can bus wires running up to behind the dash don't seam to be twisted together. How important is it that they are twisted?

pretty important.

It stops interference by one being an inverted signal of the other wire.
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!

Standard S4, but not for long.
