Your suggestions please for RS6 ICE upgrades...

Post by LondonRS6 » Wed Dec 30, 2009 12:00 pm

Firstly i am not looking to spend a fortune. Iwould like to replace my RNS D with RNS E, i would like to add blue tooth to the unit as well as a digital tuner given the anolgue switch off, in addition to this i would like a separate entertainment system for the rear passengers. Ideally they will have screens that would attach to the back of the front car seats and have wireless headphones. Can anyone recommend a suitable system , is a £2k budget enough for all these upgrades?

Go to a decent car hifi shop, see what they suggest and get a price and see if you could get it cheaper online, then go back to them and haggle. £2k will cover that lot easily as RNS-E are reasonably cheap now. The main cost will go on fitting it all I'd imagine if you don't do it yourself.

If I could have any head unit, I'd probably have this beauty!

I have bought this unit recently, but haven't had time to fully play with it

When I was in the market for a unit of this type, this is the only one that ticked all the boxes

Looks-wise it wins hands down. The Kenwood units are good too, but don't look nowhere near as good, all IMO

Virdee, will the Avic F10BT display the route info onto the DIS as the RNS-E will ?

No you will lose that

I don't think there's anything out there that will retain that

But the unit itself is miles ahead of the RNS-E. You get a proper junction view on screen, and a clear metre/yard countdown

That is gorgeous!

If I didn't already have the RNS-E, I'd be getting one of those. It looks sweet and the satnav/junction view looks really clear.

Bugger ! the only thing that puts Me off any of the OEM alternatives is losing the display in the dis, I really like this function. as it stops having to take Your attention off the road ahead.

Looks like I'm just going to have to cough up for the OEM Bluetooth.

I'm pretty sure My RNS-E already does the junction view thing though, hard to remember as I have to drive about 100 miles before I get to a Motorway !

Defo go Pioneer, alpine or Kenwood in my opinion. I have a Pioneer Avic D3, the predecessor to the one you are looking at and its magic. Excellent nav with more functions than a swiss-army-wife. All touch screen too, and with buttons if you cant be arsed, and remote an option if you are even more lazy.
