PhoneBook Sync??

This little annoyance is bugging me royally now.

I've an iPAQ Data Messenger (don't ask, it's a requiremetn for employees). Although the device is much like most Windows Mobile & a bit of a PITA, it does work fine with the Bluetooth in my B7 RS4 (RNS-E) & also fine in the 3G MMi in the new Q5, however the phonebook sync has a wierd trait in that the RS4 displays First then Last name which is how the phone & Outlook are set, but in the Q5 it's Last then First name.

Annoying the hell out of me now, as i can't see any setting under Names/Phone or Bluetooth where i can alter this, so why is the phonebook displaying differently?

Yeah, no fix that I'm aware of with that. Fortunately I have 3G in both cars now.

Craig, just so i understand your response, is this an Audi thing or a Microsoft/Windows Mobile thing?

In my RS4 the Windows Phone displays First then Last (how i like it), in the Q5 it's Last then First (hate this). A basic Nokia paired to the Q5 shows First then Last, so this leads me to think the problem must be my Windows Phone. Is this correct?

Paul - considering the Q5 and A4 are so similar it's strange that my phone shows First Name last name ........ UNLESS you import them into the Directory.

If you do this it puts the full firstname and surname in the Surname field. Originally I was editing to make it firstname in the Firstname field and surname in the Surname field but then in my list it had a mix. Now I just ignore the names are in the wrong fields and it works fine. It's not a phone issue in my car as even if you import in Vcard format via the SD slots its still wrong. My dealer looked at it after I complained to Audi UK and it meant to have raised a formal problem ticket about it. I hope this means it will get a s/w update.... but of course the more people that log it and complain the more chance of it getting fixed..... apart from the 5 digit postcode issue which they just seem to bury their head about :bash:
