I need to do a bit of work behind the dash, and would be interested if there is someone local (Camberley area, Surrey) who'd like to help. Basic job is:

- Remove old wiring for Origin B2
- properly wire in the Road Angel I've been using for last three years
- using the "Rear blind" switch in dash to turn on/off the Laser Park Pro already fitted.

Not a big job for someone who's familiar where to tap into the loom etc - but could take me hours looking for the right wires, connectors, and places to put the relay for the park pro.

Any offers of contacts??

Have now found a local guy recommended by Camberley and he's coming to do the job in 10 days time - will let you know the outcome.

All done this morning.

Only "challenge" was that the dash switch is not realy "Momentary contact" as contact when pushed in. As a consequence my simple twin coil latching relay circhit just turned the relay into a rudimentary buzzer, rather than a simple switch over. Solution was to wire the dash switch so that it is "push to disable" the parking aid, and fit a separate switch for "pust to enable". It always starts where you left it when you switch off the ignition.

Years ago dip/main beam used to be on a simple mechanical latching relay - nowadays it's all electronics! So if anyone has an old latching relay from a 1970's era do please let me know!

At least it's all tidy now, and I can hit the "off" button easily if it goes off while driving past you know who!

The circuit shown is fine - but it doesn't allow for reset the next time you press the switch - simply locks on.

The relay you put a link to is virtually identical to the one I bought, but because it works so fast, it goes into vibrate mode (ie switching on and off) as long as the switch is pressed - fun, but not useful.

One can build a true push one for on, push again for off easily enough using four relays, but I didn't want to have that many components floating around under the dash. Alternative is an "old fashioned" mechanical latching relay like they used to use on headlight switches.

Anyway, as per post above, it is now wired (using a relay like the one you linked to) with one switch on the dash to switch it off (in a hurry if neds be) and a separate switch under the dash to re-arm the system - not quite so elegant, but meets the user requirements!!

OK, I see what you're trying to do. I thought the 2nd relay would do the job, but apparently not. I'd be tempted to go the microcontroller route, but then I like to over do things!

Yep - I guess that would work if I could find a 6v relay and remember enough of my electronics to figure out what capacitor and resistor values I needed..

Or I could go and find an old headlamp latching relay from something like a 1970's Beetle.
