RNS-D TV Issues

Post by slimmyreed » Sat Sep 05, 2009 12:10 pm

Hi all,

I have a problem with the TV on my RS6. I can get a picture ok (although the reception is usually bad) however there doesn't seem to be any red coming through. By that I mean that anything that is supposed to be red shows up as black, and as it mixes red, green and blue to show the full colour range, everything else seems to be off colour aswell. I also have intermitant sound. It will work ok for a few minutes, then the sound will cut out. It is then completely random when the sound comes back. It is only the TV that is affected by this. Nav, radio etc still have perfect picture colours on the screen, and sound is fine.

I have this fault code from Vagcom...

Control Module Part Number: 4D0 919 146 B

Component and/or Version: TV Tuner H08 0805

Software Coding: 0000030

Work Shop Code: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:

00861 - Connection to Navigation Computer

011 - Open Circuit

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S

This points to a bad connection somewhere, but the question is where? The connections to the tuner seem ok from just giving them a wiggle, so the next thing i was going to look at was the connection on the back of the head unit. Is there an area that they frequently chafe through?

Testing my memory here, but I think the multipin connector on the back of the head unit is not great, and I can imagine that it can work loose.
