Anyone know how the standard armrest phone connects on.

I'm investigating changing my rns-d to a aftermarket headset and whereas I don't use the tv and I will be getting Tom Tom on my iPhone, I do like having the phone in the armrest which I use occasionally. Could I re-couple this to a aftermarket headunit?
