rs4 double din upgrade advice??

My rs4 has the original double din bose head unit installed, there's no sat or tv. just a cd multichanger in the back. So I'm thinking of treating myself...I know my present set up sounds really well and I'd like to either keep it the same of even better it with no speaker changes...
So I'd like a head unit that will give me cd,mp3, dvd maybe sd, tv and sat nav, this will be a double din but I have my own concerns about the after market double din surrounds looking nasty so I'd like the best of whats available... Can you guys give me some good advice on what I should get and the costs involved also what;s needed tobe done to get tv and sat nav working(Aerial's)????

pioneer would be at the top of my list if fitting a double din unit - they do good units which are well spec'd with features. thing is paul if you uprate the headunit then down the line you will have to consider uprating the speakers, sub and amp. the new headunit would expose the flaws in the bose spks.....

buying the eqpt is easy its finding a good installer which is the hard bit someone who isn't going to wreck half the trim whilst he fits everything in. send me a pm if you get stuck i did some research into this and can give you some names of installers etc.

I'm thinking of doing something simular in my RS6 towards the end of the year. I currently have a tv/sat and like the look of units from pioneer and suchlike that have Garmin satnav units built in. They all seem to retail for £500 > £800. There is the option also to fit a RNS-E audi unit.

I'm trying to decide if I really need a TV, I would however like a dvd player and the possibility of linking to rear screens for the kids.

I too have thought over the bose amp/speakers/sub. I removed my Infinity reference speakers from my last car which are very good, but are too large for the Audi. I guess I could replace the Bose with the correct sized Infinity ones and also replace the amp, leaving the bose sub in place.

Just thoughts at them monent.

gareth60 - my preferred choice was rainbow speakers (they do units to fit the exisiting door cut outs), sub from jl audio and amp from audioson.

which ever option you take it will be far superior to the weak bose set-up.

Cheers for all the info guys. I think it's important to get it done right. I did an install on my other audi b5 avant and that was a standard din unit. I put some reasonably good speakers in from bass monkeys but it was all the messing around putting in amps and building a sub behind the the panels in the back. Was a propper pain to do.lol I'm tempted to remove these speakers and swap them for the bose??? but if I have to start changing all the amp and the like again then i'll get someone who's worth their salt to do it. I was also wondering if I bought a pioneer headunit from america then would it work normally over here. As I fly out to vegas on sunday for a 4500 mile drive of CA. The rental company dont do Audi's so it looks like a chysler 300 again with sirius radio....now the yanks now how put put a nice system in as standard.

Yeah, Chorley near Manchester/Leyland etc.

The service and support you will get from Chris is that which you would expect from a specialist (and an enthusiast at the same time!), far far different from the box sellers like bass junkies. As I said before, he is so good I flew him 3,500 miles to work on my RS4.

WOW...i only thought film stars and the like did things like that. I'm impresssed! Well my missus live about 20 mins away from that area so I ight have a run over tomorrow. As for detailing, that something else that I'm interseted in....tut more money.lol.
