Analogue TV switch off

All,
Just wondered what thoughts people had when the Analogue tv signals are stopped for those of us who have the nav / tv in our car.
I started looking at 3rd party head units from jvc and pioneer that have sat nav / tv, etc. They come in at about £500-£700 and have the benefit to be able to play dvd's for the kids
thx

Just swap your existing TV tuner for an Audi OEM digital/analogue hybrid TV tuner, of course this is as long as your not using the old RNS-D/C nav systems.

Gareth, it appears from a previous post that you have an RS6 with standard Nav RNS-D and analogue TV, if you upgraded to RNS-E then you can also upgrade the TV tuner to the DIgital/Analogue Hybrids TV from Audi. I have already done this on a coupe of RS6's for existing forum members.

Thanks Craig. What sort of cost would I be looking at for the E and the digital TV?
I also have a Audi phone installed and Dension ipod/usb adapter, i'm guessing they will continue to work with the E?
Kind regards
Gareth

Hi guys, I hope you don't mind me joining in here. I've got an 0606 RS4 that has TV reception, the 6CD changer in the glove box but no ipod connection at the moment.
Gareth - how have you found the Denison system? From what I understand, it means I can have ipod but don't need to sacrifice my CD changer! However, I'm quite happy to do so as long as it doesn't make a mess of my glove box! What do you think?
I'm not sure whether I have RNS-E or MMI. When I switch on is says MMI on the screen but my car's too early for the full MMI isn't it?
Craig - how much would I be looking at to get digital fitted please?
Thanks

You have an RNS-E.
Why doesn't your say RS4 when you turn it on? That should be set on all factory fitted sat navs on B7 RS4s and can be set on a retrofitted one in a few seconds using VAG-COM.

You don't have to sacrifice the CD changer for the Dension, they do a CD changer retention kit that allows switching between CD & Ipod now.
Digital TV is around £600

Hi,
I find the Denson ok, I'm currently using the USB interface. The only thing I find annoying is how I change the albums. You have to select cd 5 to skip albums and then select cd 3 go back to changing tracks. I have a RNS-d which doesn't show up album/track names so I have to remember.
To be honest, the more I drive my car, the more I consider binning the standard headunit and getting a decent pioneer or suchlike with mp3 built in. I don't use the tv and satnav rarely. Now tomtom have released an app for the iPhone I might just buy that.
I'm about to change the speakers as I think the Bose are poo with infinity reference 6530cs's.
We'll see what Santa brings....
