Had to replace my indicator stalk as the cruise control switch had broke.

Disconnected the battery whilst removing the steering wheel

Now that its all back together the RNS-E can see where I am sort of, but intermittently moves whilst driving. Its as if the map freezes and tries to catch up with itself.

It could freeze for 5-10min before trying to catch up with my location and even then it would position me on the opposite side of the road.

Is it just a matter of waiting for the RNS-E to re-calibrate.

I just cant remember having this problem when I installed it.

Would disconnecting the battery effect something with VAG.COM

You should check the RNS-E coding if you have VAG COM to ensure it is still coded for A6

Check satelite reception by press "NAV INFO"

Also in engineering mode, check for speed signal when moving.

Thats the big problem. I dont have VAG COM.

I'm picking up satelites ok, around 7-8 satelites each time.

Anybody around the Heathrow area that could help me out with VAG COM

Put the RNS-E into engineering mode and see if your getting speed pulses when moving.

Press NAV then hold the TOP LEFT soft button for 10 secs and then the TOP RIGHT until it goes into eng mode

Was out in the car last night. I checked for the speed signal in engineering mode but its not recieving a speed signal or pulse.

However after driving a few miles, the sat-nav caught up with itself and was showing me in the correct position and orientation, so at least the gps side is fine.

I'm going to check the cabling on the back of the RNS-E.

If it was coded incorrectly or had lost its coding could this cause it to not detect the speed pulse?

Sounds like the new RNS-E isn't coded for an A6 - A6 is the only coding that makes the RNS-E look on a wire for the speed signal and not on the CAN bus.
