Electric Seat Gremlin - help please

I have electric Recaro's in my S6 and suddenly the drivers side seat base height adjustment stopped working!

All other adjustments are working fine.

The seat base lowers ok but then won't raise. Instinct would be to lower more and try and raise but i don't want to risk it as driving position would be compromised.

Any ideas?

Can you hear the motor when trying to lift it? Does it sound as though the gears are grinding/broken?

Usually the motor gears just wear out/loose the teeth.

Otherwise if you can't hear the motor at all, i.e. no clicking or any other noise, then it could be a faulty switch. I guess you could easily check this by swapping it from the other side.

The same switch moves the seat backwards/forwards and down successfully but not up.....motor working fine for those adjustments.

When I push down it clicks but there's no motor noise - absolutely nothing :?:

I would say your motor's shagged if it clicks but no movement

If you look under the seat you will find the seat control relay's there is one for up and one down, if you check to see which is up or down by operating the seat control button and check by holding the relay's one at a time. You can remove the relay and carefully open it and operate it manually to test the motor. The relays are connected to a top and bottom limit switch on the seat which are known to jam.You can test the relay's by swopping them.

You can just get at them if the seat is up, if down it is seat out.
