Sounds like the RNS-E installation has only been half done.

If you can't connect to the RNS-E (at address 37 or 56 it doesn't matter) then probably the K-line isn't connected.

If the instruments can't talk to the RNS-E then it sounds like maybe there is a CAN bus problem as well.

What "screen display" change do you want to make? You won't be able to make the RNS-E say "RS4" at startup - that only works if the RNS-E is coded for an A4 and in a B5 it has to be coded for an A6 to work!

Thanks Petroldave, but sorry to sound a bit dim but any suggestions who can look at this for me? i haven't a clue about the K-line connection or the the CAN bus
And yes i was hoping to display the RS4 logo on start up.

Thanks
Matt

Depends where you are based - I can take a look, I'm in Southampton.

'Fraid that's just not possible on an RNS-E installed in a B5 RS4.

You have the choice - working RNS-E and normal startup screen, or non-working RNS-E (and possibly a flat battery) and the RS4 startup screen.

Ok thanks for the help here, i think i will leave well along and opt for the working RNS-E.

Any ideas How much would it cost to enable the blue tooth ?

It's not just a case of enabling Bluetooth - you've got to add the Bluetooth module and antenna, the microphone and a wiring adapter.

Total parts approx £450.
