Clear all the fault codes - you get a lot of intermittent ones when you do the RNS-E install - and see which ones come back.

Those are the only ones you need to investigate.

Thanks PetrolDave I went to the car to clear the codes and noticed some condensation on the screen! on investigation i find the drain holes in the bulkhead are blocked ive cleaned them out and looked behind the carpet in the nsf footwell it has the smallest bit of damp. When I look on Vag 19CAN Gateway it says there is no response from controller. Has the water done a module in? and do you know where it is located? Sorry for all the questions but I think I could quickly get out of my depth here !!!!! Thanks again Matt

Not surprising - the B5 doesn't have a CAN gateway (nor does the B6 or B7).

Ok this clearly shows that i am out of my depth and a true muppet !!! i will try to explain where im at i have a kuftec rnse to symph1 adapter and the double aerial leads. It powers up with the key off input the code and away you go but turn on the key and its keeps asking for the code if you turn the key off and take it out it turns the unit off but it dose not illuminate with the sidelights in the car this lead me to think there was something wrong with my can signals. Im sure its only something silly but for me this is a major pain !!
many thanks matt (muppet)

You need to wire in a CAN signal from the instrument cluster....You can either find the CAN wires, tap into them, and bring new wires to the RNS-E, or alternatively swap the leads at the grey connector (as far as i can remember), and then again swap them on the RNS-E side.

And even after than you will have trouble to input the code, due to the CAN on the B5.

Waht i've found is, enter the code, and then it will return back to the screen. Then leave it at this screen for a good 5-10mins, and then enter once again, and it should be ok then.

Hes only got it working a true result its fair to say. The only issue now seems to be a lack of radio reception, which before the rnse was top drawer so this seems odd, is there anything a muppet could have done to cause this. Thanks again for the help guys matt

You might have a dodgy antenna adapter.

It might be a PITA, but connect the Symphony unit, and see if radio reception is back to normal.
