Why cant i play movies from my SD card on the RNS-E, but they will play from the SD card on my PDA?

The RNS-E does not have the software to play it.

OK thanks, simple answer to a simple question, now is there any way of downloading the software to the RNS-E?

There will never be a firmware update to play movies on the RNS-E. You will have to by an RNS-E AV adapter and a media player to play movies. You would also need to get your nav unlocked if you wanted video in motion.

The RNS-E cannot play movie DVDs either.

Nor can it play MP3 DVDs, only MP3 CDs.

that's a bit of a shitter really ain't it, so how do you get it unlocked, and will it validate the Audi warranty?

The only unlocking you can do is to stop it blanking when you go faster than 10 km/h, there's no known way to make it play DVD videos except an external DVD player plus an adapter.

That man from Manchester that we are not allowed to mention can do the unlocking, or you can look on www.navplus.us

Ok thanks Dave also I have the old screen saver, I hear there is a new one, that shows the RS4 logo, how do I get that one there, if possible?

To get the RS4 startup screen, you will need access to vag-com, and change adaptation channel 18 on the navigation to 3.

You also need to have SW version 0500 or later on your RNS-E. If you have a 2007 DVD then you're OK.

Ok mines a April 2006 edition found in the RS4

Press CAR, then SETUP and click on version.

What is shown as the SW version? 0500, 0550 or 0600?

Selecting setup will take you into the setup menu.

Just press car button then push down on the control knob, that will give you the SW version.
