Question for those with a "Connects2" adapter.....

Post by arS4 » Sat Oct 20, 2007 6:57 pm

Hello,

Just got my Connects2 aux adapter. Plugged it all in. Sounds great......

Until you turn the engine on. A fair bit of engine whine in the background.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Dan :)

Is the cable earth correctly? it's the most likely cause of interference

Well, I assumed that on the back of the stereo, there's the ISO connectors on the one side, the aerial on the opposite side and the an earth cable/connector just next to that.

I've attached the cable there......

Is this right?

The case of the head unit should be grounded so guess that's OK, but I would have connected it to the ground wire on the ISO power connector.

They must have sent mine out on the same day!!!, fitted it on Sunday.

I have done exactly the same thing, earth on the small lead with the spade connector like you and no noise on mine.

I took the power from the switched power line to the changer, it is the (black/white i think?) wire next to the input wires fron the connects2, means it is powered only when you select CD, dunno why they didn't do that from the factory?

I put the switch in the top of the small cubby space near the drivers right knee below the steering wheel, there is already a hole in it the right size!!!

So I can't help except to confirm that earth is fine. I was surprised the cables werent screened though as it's low level audio.

What a great mod btw, superb, I should have done it months ago, I had one of those crappy tape pickup things till now.

Found out what the problem was. My connects2 is the just the inline RCA adapter one (doesn't use the power/data connector underneath the Ipod).

My Ipod charger was causing interference - so I'll need to get a ground isolator.

A few quid spend will confirm this though :)

Still, the sound now is much better than the ITrip :)
