Ok, where is it? I have a saloon and the radio reception is very poor. If there is a signal amplifier somewhere it is very possible that i cut the power to it during my install of a new head unit.
So, i would like to start testing but i dont know where the ariel is located and if it is amplified?
Any help would be much appreciated guys.

Isn't it part of the rear window heating elements?

Yes. In fact there are 4 elements and each should have its own amplifier.

which are powered through the aerial co-ax by the head unit, hence the poor reception, you need an aftermarket power supply.Dippy wrote:Yes. In fact there are 4 elements and each should have its own amplifier.
there's quite a few for sale on the net or you should be able to get one from your local audio guys

I though that they were powered by the 'diversity switcher'.

I'm pretty certain it's powered by the head unit, here's a quick link i found that describes the sort of thing i mean, it's for an A8 but i understand the principle is the same

Digging up an old thread here...
I installed a RNS-E and my FM reception is fine but my AM reception is almost non existent.
Can someone point me in the right direction towards what to check for.
Come to think of it my AM radio reception has always been poor?? Only listen to it every now and again. but want to get it sorted.
Cheers
