Hello all - i've just joind the web-site, and just bought my RS6 - fantastic car ...

I've got what i hope is not a daft question ..........My car has the built in car phone kit, with a Nokia phone cradle in the arm rest. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get alternative adaptors for this for other Nokia phones ???, or should i consider a bluetooth device ?

I've read on here about converting the RNS-D system to a RNS-E, but i think that would be biting off more than i can chew .....

Any help gratefully received.

I managed to get a list of available cradles from a main dealer but can't find it now! It's not very comprehensive though. Wish now I'd switched to bluetooth as it's a real pain in the armrest. I've even broken the lid on mine with continually opening & closing it.

I too have the built in car phone kit in my recently aquired RS6 but fortunately I had an old Nokia 6310i lying around so I've been able to get going straight away with it. It works really well although one or two callers have said I sound a bit quiet.

Where am I speaking into - i.e. where is the mic situated?

MalcolmSu, the mic is by the front overhead light (look for the holes in the plastic).

Re, cradles. Mine had the kit but not the cradle. Spoke to VAGParts and they ordered me one for my 6230i. Works well. TBH, I have this old 6230i phone just for the car and it stays in it. Powers up on ignition and redirects to my main phone when off.

that's what i've done too - i've speed dialled a divert to the 6310 from my main phone which i do at the start of my journey... Only trouble was today in the office i thought things were really quiet until i remembered mid-morning i hadn't cancelled the divert!

I give most people my car phone number as it auto diverts (when off or out of range) anyway. Keeps things simple and I don't have to remember anything!
