'hot-wire' the TV to stay on whilst driving. Also if I had a DVD player and run it to the 'headunit', would that work whist driving?
I know it is not linked to the handbrake, like new systems, it must be linked in to the GPS or speed signal wire, which I could find, but that might shag up the Sat Nav?
Any solutions? VAG.com, can that do it?

doddle, cut the Gala wire on the back of the Nav-Plus, it's location is marked on the back of the unit. if you're really smart you wire a switch in the line so you can disable the TV in motion function in the event of a tug from the law

You need to cut the correct GALA wire ... the (CD based) RNS-D (Sat Nav plus as fitted to the B5 and early B6's) has 2 GALA wires - one for the sat nav and one for GALA/TV blanking. You want to out a switch in the GALA/TV blanking one only.
With the newer (DVD based) RNS-E you can't cut the GALA wire because ..... there isn't one! The speed signal is fed over the CAN bus, so you need to have the VIM SW mod done which allows TV in motion without breaking the sat nav.

Sorry guys, but am I an old git here?
WTF would you want live TV showing whilst the car is in motion? There is a reason why the cutout is there in the first place...to prevent distraction of the driver. There are far too many pratts on the road all too eager to take avantage of that split second when you're not watching the road.
