13 Pin DIN

Post by GardinerG » Tue Aug 21, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi All,

I am looking for a 13 pin DIN line Plug and 13 pin DIN line socket. I.e. both the male and female bits to allow me to insert a ground loop isolator between the CD changer and my Phatbox.

I've found a few in the US but would rather source them in the UK. I've tried Maplin (useless) and RS (none at all).

I'm not sure that they are available from Audi as parts, there is nothing in ETKA that I can find. I have the pinout so am going to wire it in, but I was hoping someone could let me know of a supplier of the DIN bits I need.

I suppose the alternative is to get a nackered CD Changer and CD harness from a breakers and butcher them, but I will have a look to see if I can splice it into the harness wiring directly.

Cheers

Grant

Thanks for the pointer Dippy but unfortunately they don't do 13-pin DINs.

Hmmm, I can't find the EL part, how do you get to it. I have ETKA 7 Build 663.

The plan was to plug the wired ground loop isolator between the existing 13 Pin DIN connection. I've ordered the necessary parts from the US as they are the only sites that stock them.

Thank god for the internet!

Have you tried hi-fi links?
http://stores.ebay.com/Hi-Fi-Links

I found the guy very helpful in getting leads sorted for a phatbox.

The "EL" part of etka is at the bottom of the front page, where all the type
of audi's are "start page".

Any day you learn something new is a good day (usually at least)! Cheers HGH, now I know where to look! 13 pin connectors are much bigger than the CD connector, so will have to see when the parts arrive from the US.

Cheers for the pointer Paul. :-)

Thanks!

Parts from US were fine. I had to remove the metal casing from the male connector to fit into the audi connector. Now some 26 solder connections and 16 screw terminals later it's working like a charm. No more rpm whine and the sound quality has (or appears to have) improved. Hurrah!
