One of my front speakers is buzzing, so I'm thinking of replacing them with 2 Ohm JBL speakers.

I think the std jobbies are 13cm and can get an adaptor to mount non-BOSE speakers to the door card, however I've also seen a 16.5cm adaptor which might allow me to fit slightly bigger front speakers - I think they are std size on later gen B6/7 A4's.

The question is can I fit them to my door card and then fit a pair of 16.5cm speakers without any mods or bodges???

It might be a bodge fitting 6.5" speakers in the door, the speaker fits directly to the door so it'd need a bit of bracing to stop the door trim rattling.

Sorry Paz, you are right (it's been a while since I had the door card off!). I meant to say the speaker adaptor bolts to the door frame (and not the door card). I might just stick with the 13cm ones instead of trying to be clever!

What spec of speakers are required as substitutes for the OEM Bose one?

Pretty much anything as long as it's 2 Ohm (which are few and far between)

Clived upgraded his bose as i had his oem for my s4. Might be worth a pm to see what he used

Will have whatever mikeys (now my baby) S4 had in the fronts going spare in the next week as I uprating all of mine throughout the car.
