N95 and Sat-nav plus

Post by I-want-an-RS » Sun Aug 12, 2007 2:53 am

Don't mix well do they.

Is there any way of making the N95 work right with the nav plus in my S4 or should I just sell the phone?

When I say work right I mean the phone book and missed calls and so on won't come up on the nav.

Nokia N & E series do not work fully with the Audi phone system. It's the Symbian OS and there is no fix currently.

The only workaround & it's not perfect is to have the phone set to state caller details & as long as the phone is not out of ear shot, i can usually hear who's calling from the phone if i don't recognise the number that gets displayed.

Also, it's straight forward to store often used numbers in the Directory & of course add phone numbers to Sat Nav destinations which often covers off your most dialled numbers. As said it aint perfect & i have the Nokia N95 with Craig's BT Kit in my RS4 & i've learned to live with it's limitations.

The only annoyance & i've no idea why this happens, but half the time i dial a number from the handset (scroll directory & hit the dial button), i get a nasty loud buzz/screach noise come through the cars speakers whilst the number is being dialled, however it vanishes as soon as the number i'm dialling starts to ring.

This buzzing seems to only be with the N95 and Audi kits and only the basic kits, not the A8/A6/Q7 SAP kit.

Same parts - but yours is fitted at the factory and craig's is fitted by him after the car has been delivered.

Thanks for that Craig, at least it's not specific to me/my install then. Looks like the N95 is just a naughty phone as far as RS4's are concerned.

Any news on whether Nokia are going to provide an update for the N95, to allow fuller functionality??

I have the latest firmware from Nokia V12.0.013

But it doesn't seem to fix anything with the standard AUdi phone system, but it makes my SAP system rock solid.

We're still waiting for them to do that for some of the original N series phones ...
