PhatNoise into RNS-E wiring issue

Post by tartan_rob » Thu Jul 12, 2007 6:31 pm

I have purchased a PhatNoise, the loom I got with it does not mate to the CD wiring loom as the CD unit is a glovebox job and has a multiblock on it (rectangular vs round). I was going to snip the round multiblock off the phatnoise cable and manually connect the wires to see if they mate up colour for colour.

Any ideas?>

There is a company called (I think) Audio-links which can get you then cables etc. they were very helpful in getting me some adapter cables for my phatbox and Golf. If I remember, I'll pm you the details tomorrow from the office.

Rob,

I think I may have the cable you need. I got it with my phatbox when I bought it off a forum member, but didn't need it as I have the boot CD changer, which has the round plug. I was told that this cable that I have is for glove-box CD changers.

It's Audi part number 8EO 051 592. I've posted a couple of (rubbish) photos below. If you want it, it's yours, it's only collecting dust in the garage. I'll take it to work tomorrow and if you think it'll be useful, PM me your address and I'll chuck it in a jiffy and send it off first class.

Almost right....

Actually called Hi-Fi Links. They are an "ebay trader" and their web address links through to ebay, but they are on holiday at the moment until the end of July. I found the guy extremely helpful, so if you are in a spot and unable to sort things out with any of the other postings above try:

Thanks guys. Let me try out the hack first as I managed to acquire two phatnoise cables with round ends. Otherwise I'll take you up on your kind offers.

How did you get on? I just got a Phatbox today off eBay and while it's brand new it has only got a cable and port for the rectangular connector and my CD changer uses a round cable.
