Hi all,
I have a Nav plus retro fit in the pipeline. I know I need the double din cradle and different climate control unit but do I need a new centre console also please?
Cheers

I'm not sure what year or model car you have, so I'm going on a B6/B7 model.
Double din cage part number is
8E0 858 005 F
Climate control unit
Well you can cut the sides of your unit, of buy the double din version New from Audi your looking at £400
But I would need to know year, make and model and does your car have heated seats .
I do have some double din climate control units in stock.
Center Console
Well again that can be cut to fit the double din cage.
Below is a picture of a single to double din conversion I've done, were the climate control unit and the center console has been cut to fit the double din.

I have 2000 B5 S4 facelift with heated seats and want to upgrade from a Concert single DIN headunit. Where can the parts be sourced from?? I would like to buy air con unit? TDIAvant where are you based?

Well I was let down on the double din cage, so my conversion is on hold unit I can find a used one, as the price on a double din cage of the B5 is just short of £200. I'm based in the north east.

TDIAvant just to confirm the parts that are needed:
1) Double DIN cage
2) Air con unit controller with heated seats (is the temp sensor built into this as well?)
3)Sat Nav plus system and cables
Anything else

I was interested in this for a while but the sheer cost of the double DIN cage + new air con unit on top of the new sat nav unit makes this a very expensive proposition.
I seem to recall the air con units are around £400 ish?

The cost and the sheer complexity of the part numbers for the air con units mean that a lot of people who have done the single-to-double DIN conversion just trimmed down their existing air con unit.
Cardboard template and a miniature plane plus a file seems to be the favoured combination.

I was lucky as I already had the double-DIN cage. However I went for the full monty (TMC, TV, LCD screens, AV interface) so I needed a lot of kit. I tried to get as much as possible on
www.ebay.de, but I still needed some new parts (such as the diversity switcher and the UHF antennae). In all it ended up costing me over a grand (and I did get my TMC and SatNav+ units quite cheap!). If I had known that at the start (plus the fact that it would take me nearly a year to get all the parts), I don't think I would have bothered. You have got to really want one!
ajsl - are you looking for parts on
www.ebay.de?

Dippy, no I wasn't. But overall I think the cost/hassle if you have a single DIN unit initially are too high - unless as you said you really want it!

Starting to think the cost outweighs the benefit myself. What the heck is a Diversity Switch please

There are 3 or 4 antennas (mostly in the glass) of most Audis and the radios have 2 antenna inputs - the diversity switcher switches the "best" antenna through to the tuner so you get the best possible radio reception.
