Good news for Nokia N/E series phone owners with Bluetooth
Thanks to Petrol Dave for this find....
So like most (all?) the Symbian based Nokia (and some other manufacturers phones) it only 50% works - no phonebook or call lists.
There are .sis and .sisx files now available on the Nokia website that allow the phonebook and call lists to be downloaded to a Nokia 810 car phone, and one of the Nokia support board moderators has said to an Audi owner that this will fix the no phonebook and call lists problem with the Audi car kit too.
Anyone with a Nokia phone willing to try it?

I have tried this on my N95 and I can confirm it works

Will that asist my digital reception on my telly?

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone owners with Bluetoo
Cheers for the link Craig. I'm trying to get this to work but encountered a couple of issues (one of them was my own oversight).
I've started the Contact Application on the phone, but it's been sat at processing for about 30mins (that Nokia scrollbar indicates it is doing something, but is taking an age). Is this just an intial process for all the contacts (have about 420) that takes some time??
Also can't find anywhere to delete the BT pairing in the car?? Can do this on the phone but not from the car.

RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone owners with Bluetoo
You can lose the pairings by "Setup", "Telephone Settings" and "Reset Bluetooth "
Well I've only had it working with my A8, not on any other RNS-E systems. The best news for me is that even in SAP mode on the phone I get the phone book from the phone and SIM contacts, whereas before with the SAP profile I only ever got the SIM contacts.
Now my car is equpiied with the HFP(Hands free Profile)/SAP (SIM access profile) profile kit for 2007/8 A6/A8/Q7. This is not the same as the A3/A4 or the A6/A8/Q7 HFP kits.

Tried many many times & have reset BT in the car as per your instruction above, but still no joy.
Tried it with & without Remote SIM Mode & still no phonebook appears in the car. Even did a Firmware upgrade which as a proper kicker meant it's taken a few hours to reset everthing else on the N95

The Dwnld. contacts application has been sat at processing again for about 30mins & i can't see this being right.

RE: Re: RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone owners with
When working it actually says "Transferring Data" and not "Processing", I spent a good hour testing with an RNS-E system and no joy.

So it doesn't look like this Nokia App fixes the issue??craigyb wrote:When working it actually says "Transferring Data" and not "Processing", I spent a good hour testing with an RNS-E system and no joy.
I may well call Nokia today & see if they can help. I noticed on the Nokia/Europe site that the small App Dwnld.Contacts does not state compatibility for the N95, only goes up to N92 IIRC.
Got all excited yesterday when i got your PM & nearly ended up in a divorce after i decided (in case it was likely to help) to update my N95's Firmware to the new pack released last week & then realised i'd have to spend most of the day re-setting up my phone

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone own
Craig, i've spoken to Nokia Tech Support & they state that this App will NOT work on the N95 & they don't expect this model to be included in the supported handsets for the .SISX or .SIS Dwnld Contacts applications. Bit of a shame really & after all my enthusiasm.
Back to square one. More than happy though with the limited functionality as if i set Voice Caller Notification on my N95 & leave it out of the armrest, the phone will shout at me with the callers name, so i can live with that:)

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone own
There is a setting in the bluetooth menu on the N95 and possibly others that allows remote sim mode to be switched on & off, If remote sim is off then it wont allow the contacts to be read
Just a thought

Not sure if this will help - but with my parrot bluetooth system, I had the same problem. I solved it by opening 'contacts' on the phone, selecting 'mark all' then selecting send, via bluetooth. The phone converts the contacts and will then scan and obviously you select your handsfree kit (be patient it takes a while for the bluetooth scan to start (30 secs). After the contacts has been sent, they where then available on future connections. As my car doesn't arrive until Sat, I have not been able to test this, but hope it might help. Regards Mark

You do not have to spend the day setting up the phone - before you update software, just back up to the memory card (it takes 30 secs to do and is availble through the tools menu (tools - memory- back up). Once your new software is installed you just need to retstore from teh memory card and all your settings return - easy.
I rebranded my N95 last week (removing the Orange firmware) - this made the phone much quicker. If anyone wants to know about rebranding their N95 let me know - it's free and easy to do.
Regards all Mark
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone own
I did mine, but it backs up the "Vodaphone" bits as well, so restoring screws up the phone, best to just backup contacts etc.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Good news for Nokia N/E series phone own
Hi all
I have got an RS4 with the factory fit phone kit with bluetooth and N73 combo and I am having the same problem as everyone else. I have tried the suggestion of marking the contacts and then sending them via bluetooth only to be told that there is no compatible bluetooth devices found. Which is odd as the phone is currently connected to the car at the time.
This suggests that the car is more than capable of pairing with the N73 but not capable of receiving data from it.
On one of the Nokia forums it does suggest that this is something to do with the Symbian OS and that later versions of the OS have ironed out this fault but those versions have been installed on the N95 and do not appear to be available for the N73.
Anyway if anyone has any suggestions feedback will be more than appreciated and if I am doing something wrong please tell me.
Thanks for your help.
Chris;-)
