Is this something that affects all the Audi's? Even the newer ones?
If it's not affecting them yet is it likely to in the future?

On the old red displays yes from what I've seen.
My old S reg A4 1.8T Sport was in a bad way at 100k miles & 3 years old.
I had a new instrument cluster fitted at 50k miles 5 years old on my S4.
The later ones seem to be better, but they still go

I wonder if the colour DIS will have the same problems?
I'm thinking if I get myself into a B5 RS4 in a year or so this is going to be something that will need doing at some point

My car has done 65K and the DIS is fine. However it might need to be replace anyway due to excessive current draw.

my DIS has started to have a few dead lines appear...
Has anyone had this fixed by a main $tealer ? if so, how much and is it a straight forward replacement of the DIS panel ??

Yes, mine was done under warranty, B5 S4 just under 5 years old. Bill was about £ 450 I think.

Just resurrecting this.... My S4s dash is perfect in the morning but give it 15mins and it fades down a good bit. Is this something that warranty direct or other 3rd party warranty would cover?

Mine's affected by the heat. I'm thinking of moving to Scotland.
