cd changer stopped working

Post by oliew » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:14 am

My cd changer stopped working on the trip back from germany.
so ive taken it apart and got it working again, looks like the motor wont do the intial spin up, and i get the ERR on every cd,
if i flick the cd manually it starts to spin and then works until i leave it for a while, anyone know if this is common? or should i just get a 2nd hand unit from ebay.
i'd replace the motor as its a stepper motor, thought about lubricating it as theres a little hole which looks like it could be used, but i would need very very fine lubricant

Reckon on around £70 +VAT for a repair, try www.cel-direct.com but it's too much money for something that may go faulty again.

You could try eBay for a used one or get a new/used aftermarket changer that plays MP3's with an adaptor

If your head unit has a noisy volume pot already then just get yourself a Becker head unit - quality kit Olie!
