Bose or not bose that is the question!!

Post by C9CRM » Sun Apr 22, 2007 7:27 pm

Hi, I am trying to put my aftermarket head unit out of the old car into my 1998 B5 S4. I realise that I need a wiring harness adaptor but am not sure which one. I don't think I have the bose system but am not 100%. Was wondering how I could tell? I have an Audi Concert head unit with speakers in the front doors (tweeters by the handle and mids down by the footwell) and speakers in the rear shelf. There does not appear to be speakers anywhere else. The stereo sound quite good for standard and seems to have quite a lot of bass but don't know anything about the set up.

Can anyone help?? I have been looking at autoleads harness adaptors but need to know which part number.

Cheers

I believe the unit will display BOSE when switched on.

The standard non Bose Concert does actually sound quite good IMO. My high spec Alpine unit never made it into the car in fact.

If you have Bose then there will b a Bose logo on the speaker grille on each door.

In that case I haven't like I thought.
Thanks for your help.
I have ordered autoleads PC9-404 connector, I hope this is the right one. My head unit has rca outs for all the speakers so looks like I can connect the audi amp straight to it through that lead. The rear speakers will run off the head unit and the sub off its own amp. So fingers crossed.

Hi people
I have just spotted this thread and have a question. I have an s3 with a Bose sub in the usual place. Does this mean all the speackers are Bose or just the sub? Have to admit the sound is pretty good and due to looking for an s4 avant i was wondering how much difference there is between non-Bose and Bose.
Any help is appreciated
