I'd like the answer to this one too....about to change my phone and have considered the Parrot kit too.

I have had a few people look at this on my car ... the main problem was the amp I believe in the BOSE system, and, there is no way around it. I had to use an external speaker ... Even when I upgraded my head unit, the amp was still the problem, and they could not get it to work, again, had to use the speaker.

I located the speaker in the little cubby hole down on the right hand side, got it screwed in there.

Set the parrot up to mute the stereo, thats just a cable, and it worked ok ...

I now with my Nokia hard-wired kit they had to install a separate box of tricks for it to work with the Bose system...all mutes OK. Wonder whether the Parrot can be wired via that little box?

I have a Parrot CK3100 fitted to my RS4 Avant and its all wired through the system - no standalone speaker. I think though that if I had known about GraigB's retro fit kit I'd have gone down that route, it's much neater having the BT through the MMI than through an add on. Bit of a price difference though £399 v £200 fitted!

Well guys my car is in bits at the moment, parrot is powered up ok thats the easy bit, bought some off the little pin connecters to add to the block on the back of the head unit and use the telephone in/out terminals then read the audi manual and its says this will not work on a bose system!Im tempted to try it but dont want to bugger anything,im also tempted to hardwire it into the head unit before the bose amp but im not sure if this will work,a few phone calls to local audio dealers all recieved the same responce, audis with bose are a nightmare, some hardwired it to the speakers after the amp others said it cant be done!I will keep you posted as to how i get on!

I've got the 3200 LS running through my Navigation Plus Bose system, it mutes and plays through the speakers. Don't know how to wire it in though as it was fitted for me. I know that the company that supplied and fitted it used a special interface for the Bose system, and that cost extra. If you really get stuck, you could try calling the company that fitted mine, AVR Mobiles, they were very good.

We've fitted a few Parrot kits to cars at work and some of the screens were dead, which apparently isn't unusual, so keep an eye out for that.

There is also a good forum at http://www.parrot.biz/forums/english/ which you may find useful.

Hi lengster1,

No probs, glad it was of some help. Did you resolve your collateral damage starting issue? Don't forget to post a photo of your stealth install into the vent. Mine's in front of the vent.

Yes - had a 3200 just fitted into the Bose equipped B5 RS4 [and had one in my 1.8Tsport plus got one in the Mazda RX8 - all with Bose systems)

The attenuation doesn't work/is not compatible with Bose system using the supplied cables/hardware. It can be done relatively easily BUT a bespoke cable has to be made up to make the Bose work correctly (IE mute on incoming call/outgoing, voice commands etc)

Really depends on your location I suppose but there is a place near me (Weybridge, Surrey) that have done all my cars - just a thought, but I'm sure most competent specialist places can do it - not like it's uncommon.

FYI - I bought the unit myself (for 100 quid as opposed to the 150 they wanted to rush me for it) and their fitting was 99 pounds plus 70 pounds for the custom cable

Sorry i havent posted a piccy yet but i will, opted to use a seperate speaker as i did with the nokia kit, only because i didnt really want to wait for looms to be posted etc, install looks good worth the hassle i think,my main agent came to the rescue i had to have the dash coded back in which they did FOC as id waited a while for some parts id ordered and a couple of other little issues of late,it was a nice gesture and went alongway with myself.

Jarv,

AVRmobiles did mine the other week....but couldn't get it to work through the speakers - but they managed with yours. I'd really like to know how!

Well that's a strange one Paul, it's not anything to do with the fact that I've got the Nav Plus Bose and you've got the Symphony is it?

I needed some sort of Bose interface on mine. Did you speak to Gavin at AVR, he seemed to know what he's talking about.

All they need to do is connect the audio from the phone kit to the phone audio inputs of the Audi head unit (Symphony, Concert, Chorus, RNS-D , RNS-E, doesn't matter) and then it doesn't matter if you've got Bose or not.

No special adapters nothing - just 3 wires (2 x audio + 1 x mute).
