4 beeps?

When I turned the car on tonight I was greeted by 4 beeps. Fairly quiet beeps they were too!
At first I thought petrol low? But nope, loadsa petrol. No warning symbols showed so all was OK there.
Any ideas what these beeps could have indicated? If the alarm is triggered does the car warn you of the fact when you return to it - with possibly 4 beeps?

it's a warning to alert you that the back up battery in the alarm sounder is failing, you can't change the batteries easily though, new sounder is about 70 squiddlies from the stealer.
do a search, i did a write up a while back about moving it under the bonnet when mine failed so the sound could actually be heard.

Could be your main battery not holding the voltage up also.

Thanks guys for the answers. Shineydave Im going to go and do a search for your write up.
I just got back from a spin in the car. This is getting even stranger... Now I get the 4 initial beeps on some start-ups... But also, when I engage reverse every so often I get a beep!
I have rear parking sensors so am wondering whether these beeps are telling me theres something wrong with a sensor/s. The beeps are not the same as the beeps I get when the car gets close to an object.

Fil, you may have hit on something there dude...
I'll tell you why - On Friday I opened the passenger side door for my Mum. The door creeked as I opened it. Concerned as it's never creeked before, I checked to make sure no one had hit the car (I've had a hit and run on a previous car!). Once checked I got into the car and turned the ignition... and that's when I first heard the 4 beeps. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm??????
Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier that the beeps are actually coming from somewhere in the boot!!
PS I've just read my post back and realised it reads like a murder mystery book - Who made the door creek? Why are there mysterious beeps eminating from the rear of the car?

beeps from the boot are one of two things..........
1. coming from the pager belonging to the dead hooker in the boot
2. coming from the alarm in the right hand side well in the boot
unless your name is Drexl and you look like Gary Oldman i'm guessing it's 2

that's the control unit for the alarm and central locking, the alarm sounder that contains the battery is just aft of that bolted to the edge of the well

No laughing now - or pi$$ taking - but I've just got shineydaves "dead hooker" joke

I thought you were using slang technical jargon Dave to point towards a possible answer

Dead hooker in the boot... sounds like something out of a QT movie
Anyways, back to the point I was gonna make - something strange has happened... Do you remember that creeking door problem? Well, I resolved that (somehow the panel at the bottom of the front passenger door had been rubbing against the wing!!) Now the beeps seem to have gone

Going to drive tonight so will double check - but all very strange. How did the panel come loose? What caused those beeps? Who removed the dead hooker? How did she get there in the first place???

The bleeps in my s3 didn't happen everyday either. As the BOSS drives it on a day to day basis i had to ask her every night, any strange noises in your head today love? i soon got the 'told you so' look and the smack around the head when i got in on the sunday after driving it on sat (no bleeps) and the 4 bleeps came from the boot. carefull not to leave it too long cause if it is the batts in the alarm it can wreck the circuit board. back to the dead hooker thing, i always like mine to move, not rigid.
