Aerial Switch-Over Box

This may be a simple question, but I'm not very good with electrics. I've got a problem with the radio and TV reception on my Navigation Plus system.

Can anyone tell me whether either of the wires going into the black plug (looks like a brown one and a red and blue one) which in turn plugs into the switchover box are supposed to be live? BTW, I hope I haven't broken any rules, I borrowed that photo from another thread as it was considerably better than my effort.

Help, as ever, much appreciated.

Hiya,

I didn't detect any voltage either as an input or output. But I did notice that the reception was crap when it was unplugged! Hopefully somebody with a meaningful answer will be along soon!

Hi Paul,

That's a useful piece of information, my reception is crap with it in or out, it makes no difference. I took the trim panel off from inside the rear quarter and there's lots of wires, plugs, etc., that relate to the aerial system.

I suspect that there is a problem in this area.

Cheers

Oddly enough, the reception on mine has become quite poor of late...a continuous high pitched whine over Radio 5 (with engine off!!) and Fm reception poor too. Still not too worried as the phatbox has loads of stuff on it.

When I get some more time I'll check it out.

Maybe it's not our cars, it's Radio 5 that has a fault.

Doubt it's R5... the otehr half gets decent reception in her MINI. Perhaps it's a sinister plot to make us buy DAB for our cars?
