CD player on the blink

When I bought the car (2000 B5S4 Avant) just over three years ago the Stealers fitted a new one as the old one was not working great. Been listening to the radio for the last few weeks, then flicked on the CD player and I get ERR on all tracks, don't tell me these things only last three years (unless it's true!).

Possible to fix or is it a skip job and add to Santa's list?

Have you tried disconnecting the changer from the elad in the boot and then re-connecting it? I know it doesn't run on Windows, but it may help clear a fault?

I have one still in the boot that I don't use anymore. Happy to sell this to you if it looks like urs in on the blink, just need to remove it... 6 disk multichanger.
