Multifunction steering wheel problem

Post by Dippy » Thu Nov 02, 2006 2:34 pm

This is on my B5 S4, but it is undoubtedly not model-specific.

I have intermittent operation of the controls (volume and track/channel selection on my SatNav+). Has anyone else had this happen?

MFSW  I wish I had one.

Is there some sort of slipper ring to pass the info from the wheel to the car that could have got dirty?

Dont know Dippy, probably not many people here have one of those.

As Mark says, there may be slip rings and they may be dirty, or even worn.

It's got wierder, and I think I might post in the VAG-COM forum.

I thought I'd check for DTCs this morning, so connected it up and ran a full scan (using 606 beta). It got to the airbag bit and told me to turn off the ignition for 30 secs which I did. However when I turned back on it lost comms. I have found that VAG-COM will now not work because of intermittent comms. My next job is to update to 607 which I'm doing now.

However guess what? Now my MFSW controls are working fine!!!

I don't - it leaves me feeling that something is still wrong and will resurface again one day :(

BLX. It stopped working again (intermittent). Looks like I'll need to investigate...
