I bought my S4 about 4 months ago. Recently i had to remove some of the dash bellow the steering wheel to get to some wires. I found some stray wires with jack plugs on the end, a little buzzer and an LED? I followed some of the wires in to the engine bay and to a little box in front of my rad. It has K40 printed on the back. I have had a look on google and found that is part of a Radar detection system called K40. Has any one herd of them? As i have half of it still fitted in the car i would like to try and source the missing parts. Any ideas anyone?

My advice would forget about it - youve no way of knowing the thing is operational.

Road Angel probably do the best camera/radar detectors. Got a Snooper S6 myself which is totally useless but some people rate em. Personally not heard of Calibre who make the K40 so cant comment but you might be able to get some feedback on here.

Problem with laser detectors is that it is so often too late once the detector tells you...cos the laser "beam" has already bounced off your car, so your speed has been calculated.

Different with radar as they can pick up scatter. The laser "beam" is quite narrow and normally doesn't produce any tell tale scatter.

I had a Snooper Neo which worked well for fixed camera sites and always went off when pinged by a laser. The other half has a Road Angel and that does the same. My Snooper was bl**dy annoying when in radar detect mode cos it picked up every automatic door opening in the area!

slightly of topic , what about laser diffusers? are these any good? have read lots of reviews on lidatek and target?

Aren't these technically illegal? Can't they be construed as obstructing the old bill in the performance of their duties ore something?

i think they are BUT these are primaly used as garage door openers but quote " these may interfere with laser guns"

The best thing to buy is a Park pro device. It is sold as a parking aid and works in the same way as normal park sensors except they operate on 904Nm laser wavelength - the same as Police guns...as it is sold and operates as a parking aid, there is nothing the Police can do. 904Nm is a public wavelength. This devices causes speed guns to get a 0 or error reading....check this site out for the legal side of all radar detectors + proper test reports....

I wouldn't know about laser diffusers, but my garage door opener has certainly been triggered at a time when I might have been exceeding the speed limit. I held my breath for a fortnight but there was a deathly silence!
